The Zorin Robotic Sanding Cell is a turnkey automated finishing solution designed for small and medium manufacturers. It replaces manual sanding — the most labour-intensive, inconsistent, and hazardous operation in woodworking — with a precise, repeatable robotic process.

Pre-configured sanding recipes, automatic panel detection, integrated dust extraction, and a simple touchscreen interface mean your operators can run the cell with minimal training. One operator can manage multiple cells simultaneously.

Cell Components

  • 6-Axis Industrial Robot — Payloads from 5kg to 25kg. Reach up to 1.8m. Compatible with ABB, KUKA, Fanuc, and Universal Robots.
  • Sanding End-Effector — Orbital or belt sanding head with automatic pressure control and quick-change abrasive discs.
  • Part Holding Table — Vacuum or mechanical fixturing. Accommodates panels up to 2400mm × 1200mm.
  • Dust Extraction System — Integrated shroud with high-efficiency extraction. Connects to workshop dust collection or standalone filter unit.
  • Perimeter Safety Guarding — Light curtain or physical guarding with interlocked access door. Safety-rated robot controller.
  • Operator Touchscreen — Industrial HMI pre-loaded with the Zorin Sanding App. Recipe selection, progress monitoring, and maintenance alerts.
  • Zorin Controller — Runs the sanding sequences. Streams performance data to Z-Analytics.

Sanding Recipes & Control

  • Pre-Loaded Recipes — MDF, HDF, hardwood, softwood, veneer, and plywood. Material-specific parameters for optimal results.
  • Custom Recipe Builder — Define your own: name, sanding pattern, pressure, speed, and grit sequence.
  • Pattern Selector — Raster, spiral, contour-following, edge-only, or manual path definition.
  • Panel Size Detection — Manual input or automatic laser measurement.
  • Abrasive Wear Tracking — Z-Analytics monitors abrasive consumption and alerts when paper change is due.
  • Cycle Time Analytics — Track cycle time per panel type. Identify bottlenecks and optimize throughput.

Choose material and finish type from the touchscreen.

Place panel on the holding table. Auto-detect or input dimensions.

The robot executes the sanding pattern with consistent pressure.
